Bike Safety for Children (spoiled children)
By Jamie Hanson
If you are planning some great family bike trips for the summer it is essential to make sure that the whole family has the required bike safety equipment to ensure their safety. This is particularly important for children because they are less likely to be competent on their bike and more likely to fall off and hurt themselves. To ensure ultimate safety follow our simple guide to children’s bike safety.
Cycling Helmets for All
All cyclists must wear a cycling helmet, your kids might think that they don’t look cool but they are an essential piece of kit. You can fix most parts of your body without too much bother but your head is a totally different matter and it needs to be kept protected. You can buy some really funky cycling helmets so there is no need to look uncool!
Making Light of the Situation
It can seem in the summer months that bike lights are the last thing that you would need but like a car you need to make your bike well seen in the dark and in the bad weather it is vital that if the weather takes a turn for the worse that you are clearly visible! So invest in some great bike lights for both the front and back of your children’s bikes to make sure they can be seen from both the front and back. You can buy a huge range of different lights including battery and dynamo lights. A dynamo light is a light that is charged as you cycle about so would be best suited to older children because they are more likely to produce the level of energy needed.
A battery bike light is ideal for smaller cyclists so you can rest assured that they are going to be well lit even if they have spent a lot of time pushing their bike and sulky. The set up of bike lights is the same as other motor vehicles with a white light on the front and a red light on the back.
Cycling Gloves and Other Bike Accessories
Kids tend to fall off bikes more often and of course use their hands to break their fall so it makes sense for them to have some cycling gloves. Not only do these gloves protect their hands from getting cut, they also offer some wrist support, which is good news because kids seem to break bones left right and centre!
It is really important to keep hydrated whilst on a bike ride and this is even more important on a hot day when you are already losing a higher than average amount of water. Attaching a water bottle cage and taking a bottle on a bike ride would be the obvious thing to do.
With all of these safety measures in place you can have a really exciting family trip, just remember to keep an eye on the smaller members of the family and don’t take them somewhere that would be beyond their ability!
When going on a cycling trip with kids don’t forget to have them wear a cycling helmet and make sure they have the right bike lights to be safe.

By Jamie Hanson
When you are out sailing you want to be as comfortable as you can be in in every way, wearing clothes that make you comfortable, keep you dry and aid your sailing performance. This should extend through to sailing accessories too, a great pair of sailing gloves can really make a huge difference to your sailing experience.
Sailing gloves are used to improve grip which is of great importance out in the ocean particularly if the water is choppy and there is a significant amount of spray. You will need to have a good grip on the ropes to keep control of your boat. Having a leather palm on the sailing glove provides a great amount of traction allowing you to feel confident that you will have a great grip on the ropes or side of the boat.
It is not only important in terms keeping control of your vessel and the ropes you also need to protect your hands from rope burn, this is easily caused by the ropes quickly slipping through your hands and can be incredibly painful.
A good seal around the wrist is essential because you don’t want the inside of your gloves getting soggy and cold for the rest of your trip. It is about making your experience better and more comfortable so you need to buy the best!
Brands to trust
All of the top sailing brands offer great gloves at really reasonable prices so it is definitely worth buying a pair, just think how much happier you will be when you don’t have to worry about ripping your hands to shreds!
Gill’s Neoprene sailing gloves are a great all year round option, the neoprene material that is the same material used in wetsuits so they will perform in the same way, keeping hands protected from the rough texture of the rope. These are ideal for use in the cooler but not freezing seasons because they will keep your hands warm and protected.
For the winter months a pair of the Henri Lloyd Stealth Winter gloves would be perfect, they have a neoprene inner layer but they have a warmer outer layer and they are completely waterproof. They have a maxigrip palm which gives you with a good grip even in the roughest of winter weather.

The Black Cat Episode
By robin jackson
Whilst surfing the web, I have happened to stumble upon a most unusual website called http://www.kickoutkitty.com.
A14 year-old kid published a website containing numerous pictures of kittens that belong to him. This kid is unbelievably brave: he actually turned to all whom it may concern, asking that visitors contribute small sums of cash in order to allow his to keep his precious kittens at his possession, since he cannot afford keeping them by himself and would soon be forced to stop feeding them.
Is it pure begging? Possibly a mere Scam? Or is it only a gimmick that was generated by an anonymous cat food company? Being totally honest, even after six hits on the site - I cannot determine who was behind it, nor do I care. I got to admit, the small kittens got me mesmerized.
On the one hand, you can’t disregard the mercy you feel towards those cute kittens. Seeing how I’ve always took proud at being a passionate animal lover and who’ll do anything to save an animal’s life. Then again - how can one be certain?
Well, this Site has been gaining popularity so rapidly and been talked about at my workplace these days, that I decided I was gonna donate a 5 bucks, no more. There have also been quite a few organizations that were content to do the same, and got some free hype for their generous donation.
If the above doe not suffice, this 14 year-old toddler has come up with a surefire way to get donations for saving his beloved kittens, through bestowing a considerable business advantage for companies and organizations that contributed to his campaign- and even devoted a special area for crediting his attributed donors in a manner they most definitely should be hailed.
This thought, of getting practically free publicity through giving a symbolic donation to the kid’s beloved kittens, brings lots of corporations to harness the unfortunate kittens contributions
This stems through the highly growing quantity of people who come to this kid’s aid and contribute what they could, as his site has by now created some Buzz.
Advertising for ten dollars sounds pretty appealing for many people and qor companies. For each company that provides a donation, this site recognizes its kindness and good spirit, and thus contributes a credit for others to see and respect. such advertising is worth dozens of times more than the actual minor contribution that was given to the site (especially for a corporation operating inside the U.S. market, since most of the comments came from Americans worried about these kittens’ poor faith once thrown to the street).
The website is located at the following address:

Worth a glance - urge people to chip in and save this kid’s extended family. I know I would.
